FAB2025
JULY 4–11, 2025
Bringing the world’s biggest digital fabrication event for local and global innovators to the Czech Republic
TEASER
BRIDGE THE GAP
During the many conversations leading up to our FAB2025 pitch, we recognized that our mission goes beyond just hosting an event – it’s about building lasting connections and fostering digital fabrication and maker culture across the Czech Republic, Europe, and beyond.
We see “Bridge the Gap” as both a personal commitment and a call to action. Each one of us, and together as a community, can contribute to this effort and help bridge the gap. The gaps we aim to address are reflected in our chosen program tracks. Is it about bringing seasoned FabLab experts and newcomers together? Finding sustainable ways to utilize new technology? Bringing maker projects to market? Accelerating the diffusion of digital fabrication into standard education? Bringing FabLabs to isolated locations and underprivileged communities? Ensuring that open-source technology is used rightfully? You name it. We believe that with FAB2025, we can start to bridge these gaps.
We encourage you to join us next year to help us in this mission, while also exploring Czech culture, making new friends, and, most importantly, having fun.

DAYS OF PROGRAM
FAB CONFERENCE
The cornerstone of FABx events, the Fab Conference offers a dynamic mix of inspirational keynotes, symposiums, TEDx-style talks, theoretical and hands-on workshops, fast talks, focus groups, and other exciting program formats—plus plenty of networking opportunities. We’re sticking with the traditional split-day format: mornings will bring everyone together in a large venue, while afternoons will be tailored to your interests with a range of more personalized sessions. These program tracks have been carefully curated with input from over 50 people from European FabLabs and initiatives during our pre-event series.
FAB FESTIVAL
A vibrant celebration that showcases digital fabrication, creativity, innovation, and the community spirit of the Maker Movement. The festival will feature workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, and popular talks that highlight the incredible possibilities of digital fabrication technologies. It’s a unique opportunity for FABx attendees and the public to learn, collaborate, and engage directly with digital fabrication techniques, and to meet the people who use them to solve real-world problems, create art or build communities.
LOCAL CONFERENCE
Introducing this new format allows us to leverage the visibility of the FABx event and bring the right people together, setting a solid foundation for future collaborations in the Czech Republic. Our aim is to foster dialogue, share success stories, and highlight best practices from around the world. By encouraging collaboration and mutual understanding among Czech makerspaces and relevant stakeholders, we’re focused on advancing the ecosystem and supporting innovation and education through the FabLab network.
OTHER PROGRAM
We’re certain there’s more excitement in store, but we can’t confirm all the details just yet. Could it be the Fab City Challenge? The biggest gathering of mobile FabLabs? A Guinness World Record attempt for the largest 3D printed statue? If you have a bold idea or an innovative concept, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s an unexpected twist to the program, a groundbreaking technology showcase, or a creative community initiative, your suggestions could help make this event even more unforgettable.
2 CITIES, 1 (MAKER) TRAIN
The event will take place in two cities – Brno and Prague – which offers several exciting benefits. You’ll experience the best of the Czech Republic, immersing yourself in two of its most vibrant and culturally rich cities. Hosting the event in two locations also allows us to maximize our impact, engaging a wider audience and fostering stronger connections within the Czech maker community. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy the unique experience of traveling between them on our special Maker Train.
BRNO
We’ll start in Brno, a vibrant student city known for its welcoming atmosphere, endless leisure activities, and hip culinary scene. Brno and its region is also a hub of innovation – every third electron microscope in the world is manufactured here. Brno features a UNESCO heritage site, striking functionalist architecture, and plenty of spots to relax, including parks and a dam. It’s a cozy, walkable city, with everything in close proximity, including two capitals, Vienna and Bratislava, making it easy to reach. Already buzzing? Check it out here!
MAKER TRAIN
To ensure city transitions are as relaxe and as fun as possible, we plan to dispatch a special Maker Train. Sounds amazing, right? During the approximately 2,5-hour train ride, you’ll have a unique opportunity to network and experience unusual program formats. Or, if you prefer, you can simply relax and recharge.
PRAGUE
We’ll continue in Prague, one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals, renowned for its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene. The Czech capital offers a blend of historic treasures – Romanesque chapels and cellars, Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces and gardens – alongside modern neighborhoods. It’s also home to the largest ancient castle in the world, Prague Castle. Your options are endless—grab a beer by the river, attend a classical music concert, or visit one of the top five zoos in the world. Ready to start planning? Go here!
TIMELINE
We won the FAB2025 candidacy back in 2019. A lot of time has passed, and we certainly haven’t been idle. From day one, we’ve treated FABx as a long-term project, with the main event as the icing on the cake. We’re proud to briefly summarize our journey below.
WHY FABx? (OCT 2019)
In 2019, only a few FabLabs existed, and Maker Faires were held in two cities in the Czech Republic. Tom’s visit to the last FABx in Egypt inspired us to unite and ignite the maker movement in our country, creating both buzz and a long-lasting impact.
SUPPORTERS (MAR 20)
To strengthen our candidacy, we secured over 40 support letters from international, national, and regional public figures, private companies, and, most importantly, FabLabs and makerspaces. This gave us the confidence to go for it.
FABx PITCH (JUL 20)
We created an amazing video that helped us win the candidacy by popular vote, bringing FABx to Central Europe for the first time. However, the event was postponed twice due to the global pandemic, with the final year set for 2025.
TEAMING UP (JAN 21)
We formed a team from two organizations – FabLab Brno, the first FabLab in the Czech Republic, and Make More, the organizer of Czech Maker Faires. We’ve been working together, not only on event preparations, ever since.
1st PRE-EVENT (JUN 22)
To maximize impact and involve FabLabs in program preparations, we organized a series of pre-events, gathering around 40 makers from across Europe. The first meeting in Prague focused on bringing the group together and reconnecting after the pandemic.
2nd PRE-EVENT (MAR 23)
The second pre-event shifted to Brno, focusing on exploring potential program tracks, speakers, and formats. However, the pre-events weren’t all work—we also tried neon sign making, visited event venues, and enjoyed a fun beer quiz. We plan to bring this approach to the main event too!
3rd PRE-EVENT (APR 24)
The third pre-event returned to Prague. As the main event drew closer, we delved into more detailed planning. This time, we focused on additional program segments—the Fab Festival, a conference for local FabLabs and stakeholders, and our special Maker Train.
HOT PHASE (AUG 24)
After FAB24 in Mexico, we’re entering the final phase of preparations—expanding the team, refining the program, and handling all the practical details. Keep your fingers crossed for us so we can create an amazing event together!
SUPPORT
Creating an amazing event takes strong support, and we’re excited to have our partners on board. From international, national, and regional public figures to private companies and our FabLab friends, we’re grateful for their backing.
